Dilations‎, ‎models‎, ‎scattering and spectral problems of 1D discrete Hamiltonian systems

In this paper, the maximal dissipative extensions of a symmetric singular 1D discrete Hamiltonian operator with maximal deficiency indices (2,2) (in limit-circle cases at ±∞) and acting in the Hilbert space ℓ_{Ω}²(Z;C²) (Z:={0,±1,±2,...}) are considered. We consider two classes dissipative operators with separated boundary conditions both at -∞ and ∞. For each of these cases we establish a self...

Electronic transport through dsDNA based junction: a Fibonacci model

A numerical study is presented to investigate the electronic transport properties through a synthetic DNA molecule based on a quasiperiodic arrangement of its constituent nucleotides. Using a generalized Green's function technique, the electronic conduction through the poly(GACT)-poly(CTGA) DNA molecule in a metal/DNA/metal model structure has been studied. Making use of a renormalization schem...

Lorentzian Approach to Black Hole Thermodynamics in the Hamiltonian Formulation

In this work, we extend the analysis of Brown and York to find the quasilocal energy in a spherical box in the Schwarzschild spacetime. Quasilocal energy is the value of the Hamiltonian that generates unit magnitude proper-time translations on the box orthogonal to the spatial hypersurfaces foliating the Schwarzschild spacetime. We call this Hamiltonian the BrownYork Hamiltonian. We find differ...

Spectral Gap Amplification

A large number of problems in science can be solved by preparing a specific eigenstate of some Hamiltonian H. The generic cost of quantum algorithms for these problems is determined by the inverse spectral gap of H for that eigenstate and the cost of evolving with H for some fixed time. The goal of spectral gap amplification is to construct a Hamiltonian H ′ with the same eigenstate as H but a ...

Black-Box Hartree-Fock Solver by Tensor Numerical Methods

The Hartree-Fock eigenvalue problem governed by the 3D integro-differential operator is the basic model in ab initio electronic structure calculations. Several years ago the idea to solve the Hartree-Fock equation by fully 3D grid based numerical approach seemed to be a fantasy, and the tensor-structured methods did not exist. In fact, these methods evolved during the work on this challenging p...
